MA State Courts Against Road Rage (SCARR)

Coronavirus Update

Urgent: Due to coronavirus concerns, in an effort to ensure the health and wellbeing of our instructors and students, the National Safety Council and the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles (MA RMV) have canceled all all MA classroom 4-hour Driver Attitudinal Retraining Programs (Alive at 25) and 4-hour State Courts Against Road Rage Programs (SCARR) until further notice.

NOW AVAILABLE: MA RMV has temporarily approved an alternative way to deliver the statutorily required content in the form of a 4-hour online class. For a limited time, your participation in the online course will fulfill your in-person class requirement. The process is easy and convenient, and the online course can be completed anywhere you have an internet connection.

  • If you were enrolled in an Alive at 25 or SCARR classroom course, you have been automatically transferred into the online class. Look for mail or email from NSC that includes a unique access code and instructions on how to log in and complete your 4-hour online class.
  • If you are scheduled for multiple classes (for example both Alive at 25 and SCARR) you will receive a unique online access code for each program requirement and will need to complete the online course multiple times.
  • To register for the 4-hour online class to meet one of these requirements, please call (866) 398-0864 between 8 a.m. and 5:45 p.m. Monday through Friday, and one of our customer service team members will enroll you immediately.

Upon successful completion of the online MA Driver Attitudinal Retraining Program (Alive at 25) or Online State Courts Against Road Rage (SCARR) course, your completion will be sent electronically to the MA Registry of Motor Vehicles. This process can take 1-2 business days after completion. You will receive a Certificate of Completion in the mail within 7-10 days for your personal records.

You may check your current license status at any time by accessing your profile at Mass.gov/RMV.

About the Course

SCARR is intended to help students face the driving behaviors that required them to take the course and discuss how they will change those behaviors. Participants walk away understanding the serious consequences involved with irresponsible and dangerous driving.

Course Fee

Course fee is $90 and payable by credit card through our online registration site. You can reschedule to a different date or location at no cost up to the day prior to the start date of your chosen class date. Rescheduling on or after the start date of your class will required a mandatory, non-refundable rescheduling fee.

Important Notes
