Teach Young Adults to be Safe Drivers with Alive at 25

Every hour, about 30 teens are injured in motor vehicle crashes involving an inexperienced driver. Each day, seven will die in those collisions.

Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for young adults, and the numbers are climbing. Teen drivers are nearly three times more likely than drivers age 20 and older to be in a fatal crash.

Teen Crashes are Preventable

Inexperience, coupled with risk-taking behavior, means a heightened crash risk for teens. While driver education and graduated driving licensing systems are effective, teens need additional training and guidance to change risky behaviors and improve decision-making skills.

Alive at 25® is a highly interactive program that teaches young adults how to make safe, respectful and legal driving decisions. Designed for drivers under age 25, the program complements national driver education programs, which focus on laws and vehicle handling. It teaches young drivers how to take control of situations by taking personal responsibility for their own actions, attitudes and driving behaviors.

The four-hour classroom course is available in English and Spanish. Learn more about Alive at 25.

It offers proven facilitation methods and the instructional standards and training skills to deliver a successful driver improvement program. The candidate instructor will learn the Alive at 25 course curriculum in detail during the eLearning Instructor Certification program.

Since the Kentucky State Police started teaching Alive at 25 in 2004, the Commonwealth's death toll among teenage drivers age 16-19 dropped 60%. KSP continues to increase Alive at 25 instructors and classes across the Commonwealth, targeting counties with high crash locations.
