The NSC Safety Ambassador Program

Too many people are dying from preventable injuries. Today, unintentional injuries have risen to become the third leading cause of death in the U.S., but each of us can take action to reverse this trend.

Though safety improvements can be made in many ways, you can take steps right now to protect your loved ones, and the Safety Ambassador program gives you the tools to do it. The more of us who join, the safer our communities will be.

What is a Safety Ambassador?

A Safety Ambassador is a person who takes action to bring safety into our homes and communities, and to our community leaders. Eligible actions and activities are listed on the Get Started page.

How do I get started?

It only takes a few steps. First, go to the Get Started page. There you simply sign up, choose an activity and get started making a difference in the safety of those around you.

What's in it for me?

Safety Ambassadors receive an official certificate and pin from the National Safety Council to show that they are helping NSC reach its goal of eliminating preventable deaths. Your certificate can be hung in your office and added to your resume or social media profiles, while your pin can be proudly displayed on your shirt or jacket.

Is there a cost involved?

There is no cost.

Do I need to be a member of the National Safety Council to be a Safety Ambassador?

No.

What do I need to be a Safety Ambassador?

The NSC Safety Ambassador website contains everything you need. Once you have chosen an activity, simply download the attached materials – presentations, form letters, etc. ­– and you’ll have everything you need.

If I complete an activity, am I a Safety Ambassador forever?

No. Each year, a new pin will be issued and you will need to complete and submit another eligible activity to receive it. Collect as many pins as you can over the years and display them proudly on your shirt, jacket or at events. Pins are available while supplies last.

Do on-the-job trainings, meetings or toolbox-talks qualify me to become a Safety Ambassador?

No. While NSC recognizes the role of these activities in keeping people safe, the goal of the Safety Ambassador Program is to encourage individuals to bring safety back home and into their communities.
